Opaque finishes continue to be trend leaders, which makes Swarovski’s new Crystal LacquerPRO DeLite Effects an exciting addition to the LacquerPRO family. In recognition of the increasing need to live sustainably and the consequent desire for more natural looks, the five effects that have been added to the palette for Fall/Winter 2019/20 are inspired by the richness and beauty of the landscape. To look at Crystal Ochre DeLite, Crystal Cappuccino DeLite, Crystal Army Green DeLite, Crystal Light Grey DeLite, and Crystal Burgundy DeLite is to be transported to the world’s beauty spots. Think the intense ochre of Africa’s savannahs, and the deep green of Northern Europe’s boreal forests; or the glittering snows of the High Arctic, and the soft heathers of the Scottish Highlands.
One particularly noteworthy feature of the DeLite family is that its facets are highlighted to enhance the exceptional depth and clarity of the crystal. Not only do they appear sharper and more perfect, DeLite lacquers show an increased light return in comparison with Shiny LacquerPRO effects. It makes for even more creative possibilities when playing with matt-shiny mixes. Indeed, DeLite harmonizes brilliantly with color-matched Shimmer or Shiny LacquerPRO effects. These qualities, together with the fact that the on-trend colors are regularly refreshed, underline why DeLite is especially suitable for embellishing apparel, accessories, jewelry and watches.
The new effects are available for Round Stones, Fancy Stones, Flat Backs No Hotfix and Flat Backs Hotfix. Conveniently, they can be used in a variety of ways: applied randomly with UV glue, fixed in a setting, set in Ceralun—or even used as a floating element in a medallion. Please note, however, that owing to the natural softness of the lacquers, reverse application is not recommended. This is because mechanical stress could cause the crystals’ edges to rub off. It is advisable to use only closed settings, or settings with an open back if the lacquered side is not going to be exposed to mechanical stress. Although machine-washable at 40ºC, delicate spinning is advised.
