Staged at the landmark Hong Kong Maritime Museum, with its spectacular views across Victoria Harbour, the Brilliance Redefined exhibition displayed a selection of some of the finest contemporary crystal showpieces in the world.
It included pieces from the World Jewelry Facets touring exhibition, alongside one-of-kind showpieces created especially for the event, plus the latest collections from top-flight brands and local labels. It also featured an exclusive showcase of iconic 50s designs and one-offs from the Swarovski archive in Austria, a dress by Christian Dior and a bracelet by Schiaparelli, among other vintage highlights.
On Aura Tout Vu’s spectacular scarlet-feathered piece could feature among future heirlooms: made up of sparkling stars that linked to form a decorative yoke, it featured Swarovski’s Rivoli Star Flat Backs and the ever-dazzling XIRIUS Rose.
Another dramatic yoke-style necklace by Frangos Jewelry used the “perfectly imperfect” Kaputt Fancy Stone to head-turning effect. Bib necklaces were also among the most eye-catching designs on display.
Firefly, meanwhile, had created a shimmering cascade of Flame and Fireopal Flat Backs to light up the décolletage. boks&baum’s bib necklace was a masterclass in linear design, recalling iconic 60s style using Kaputt Oval crystals to enhance its strong graphic silhouette.
In direct contrast was Atelier Une Ligne, which channeled the boho look with its fluid, layered, blue-beaded bib created using Crystal Round Pearls and Crystal Iridescent Blue Pearls. Jelly Fish and Raindrop stones provided the highlights.
Standout jewelry suites included a striking sculptural design by Grossé. Its golden tubular forms were topped and tailed with Swarovski’s brilliant XIRIUS Chaton in ruby and pink hues.
UNOde50, meanwhile, presented a necklace and bracelet set that was sufficiently restrained to show off the astonishing optical illusion of its Tilted Dice crystals to perfection.
Last but by no means least, Shourouk’s stunning statement earrings placed a fiery XILION Navette stone at the center of a blaze of crystals. Extraordinary.
