Tord Boontje

Dutch-born, London-based Tord Boontje’s relationship with Swarovski began in 2002, when he designed Blossom for Swarovski Crystal Palace’s presentation at Salone del Mobile.

Famed for his beautiful, whimsical, and nature-inspired lighting pieces, Tord Boontje’s signature aesthetic is a luxurious and modern romanticism. His work places as much emphasis on emotion as it does on design, drawing on the belief that modernism doesn’t have to mean minimalism, and that contemporary design need not ignore tradition. He trained in industrial design at the Design Academy, Eindhoven, and at London’s Royal College of Art, setting up Studio Boontje in 1996. His extraordinary success since then has seen his work placed in major museum collections, including London’s Victoria & Albert Museum and New York City’s MoMA.
